A traveling roadshow is coming to Atlanta, bringing art combined with activism, and a aim of uniting communities behind their users with developmental disabilities. The demonstrate is “Treasure Maps: The Ga Storytelling Roadshow.”
The pop-up theatre will display screen movies about people today all over the state who are navigating lifetime with a developmental incapacity. It will be accompanied by vendors, installations, food items vehicles, and stay tunes.
The Atlanta cease on the Ga roadshow takes place this Saturday, July 10, at Legacy Park in Decatur, with WABE’s “All Matters Considered” host Jim Burress co-internet hosting the event. LaTonya Harris is a roadshow volunteer, and mom of just one of the showcased storytellers, her daughter Faith. Shannon Turner is the founder and Inventive Director of StoryMuse, the organization that partnered with the Georgia Council of Developmental Disabilities to deliver the Treasure Maps job. Harris and Turner both of those joined “City Lights” Senior Producer Kim Drobes to share their excitement about Treasure Maps, its storytellers, and the drive for legislative progress that the exhibit can make its priority.

How “Treasure Maps” came to be:
“The storytelling venture began in 2018,” Turner explained. “We traveled the state collecting tales, and these stories walked suitable into legislator’s offices so that we could support educate all those individuals to say, ‘Look, this is your constituent.
